Middletown Schools To Have Increased Police Presence Amid Threats

While no threats have been directed at Middletown schools, officials said police will have an increased presence as a safety precaution.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — There will be an increased police presence in Middletown schools as a safety precaution due to unspecified nationwide threats to schools, according to officials.

Middletown police recently received information regarding the unspecified nationwide threats to schools, according to Chief Erik Costa.

ā€œThese threats have been vague and we have no information to suggest they are credible or being directed at our community schools,ā€ Costa wrote in a news release. ā€œThe Middletown Police take every threat seriously and recognize that this type of information causes concerns for parents and students. As a result, we will be increasing our presence in the schools as a safety precaution and to help alleviate any fear associated with these threats.ā€
