Pre-registration is Mandatory. You can call or email us the week prior to the classes you are interested in attending. For example, you can call or email this week for next weeks classes. Class sizes are restricted so we can keep social distancing.

You must bring your own water bottle.

Please dress for the weather of the day.

Masks are required.

The North Parking Lot is closed. Please try not to arrive early so we have time for proper sanitizing between classes. If you do arrive early, do NOT exit your vehicle until 5 minutes prior to the start of the class.

Participation in these classes is at your own risk.

Please use the bathroom before coming. In the event you need to use the restroom while at the center, up to 2 people at a time will be allowed in the building to use the restroom.

We realize it's summer and this is not ideal. You do not have to participate in any of these classes. Class times will be shortened due to the heat and cleaning protocols in place. We have purchased 3 canopies in the north parking lot and several battery operated fans. As with any exercise class, you can modify your activity level to what makes you comfortable. If you are tired or overheating, there are chairs available for you to rest.

At this time, we are allowing registration for 1 of each type of exercise class per week (example: 1 zumba, 1 tai chi, and 1 exercise with Jane). In the event the classes don't fill by Friday afternoon, we will backfill the open slots with participants who indicate they are interested in attending multiple classes that week. Calls will be made on Fridays to backfill the classes.

Other important updates:

AARP has notified us that they won't be hosting any in-person safe driving classes for the remainder of 2020.

The State of CT has notified us that the Farmers Market vouchers are delayed approximately 3 weeks due to the state shutdown. We will notify you when we receive the vouchers. We don't anticipate receiving them until the end of July.

We are currently working on the August newsletter and will have a whole new host of activity kits to go. Stay tuned!

If you have suggestions, please don't hesitate to call or email us. This is new to everyone and we want to focus on what you'd like to see.

We miss you all, stay safe! I hope to see you soon!!

Thanks, Ann Gregg Manager of Senior Services City of Middletown
