Middletown State Employee Indicted on Tax Evasion Charges

Ajmal Jenkins, 39, was indicted by a federal grand jury.

A Middletown man and state employee was indicted on tax evasion charges.

Ajmal Jenkins, 39, was indicted after a federal investigation that is targeting state employees who had little or no federal withholding taken out of their paychecks and who failed to file tax returns, said Tom Carson, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut Office.

The indictment alleges that Jenkins paid no federal income taxes on about $256,081 on income from 2009 through 2012 tax years.

Jenkins works at the Mental Health and Addiction Services department and works at Connecticut Valley Hospital.

The indictment against Jenkins was returned by a federal grand jury on March 4. He is set to be arraigned Monday on four charges.
