Middletown Woman Falls Victim to Real Estate Scam

The woman lost out on $800 through a rental scam.

A Middletown woman fell victim to a $800 real estate scam.

Lis Garcia, a mother of three found a residence to lease for $900 with utlities, according to WFSB. It seemed too good to be true and it was.

Garcia gave a $500 deposit and another $320 for financial documents to be sent to close the deal. The package never showed up and she contacted police.

Middletown Police said it was a new type of complaint for them, but Danbury police have had similar reports.
