Middletown's own Jerry Augustine competed in the Empire State Building Run Up competition!
Tuesday night, Oct 6, for the ninth time. He came in 2nd in the 80's division. He ran the 1576 stairs from the ground floor to the top observation deck in 29 minutes & 51 seconds.
In the years that he competed, he placed 3rd, 3 times; 2nd, 5 times; and winning the 50's division in 2001 at 55 years old. He was one of the 4 oldest competitors of the 356 that competed. He placed 301 out of the 356. His best time was 14:28 when he was 52 in 1998.

Jerry is Vice President of the Greater Middletown Military Museum and honorary member of the Middlesex County Historical Society. He is a Vietnam Veteran and has been inducted into the State of Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame in 2021.
