Movies Returning to the Kate in August
The Kate is following guidelines issued by the Connecticut Business Reopening and Recovery Center.

OLD SAYBROOK, CT - The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, “the Kate”, is pleased to announce a “Saturday Cinema” series featuring blockbuster films to be enjoyed in a physically distanced and safe environment beginning Saturday, August 8, 2020. The Kate is following guidelines issued by the Connecticut Business Reopening and Recovery Center and patrons will have to adhere to several rules, including wearing masks.
“We’re excited to welcome patrons back into our theater as we begin to safely reopen. We’ve missed the hum of music, the jokes of comedians, the drama of theater, and sharing the arts and more,” said executive director Brett Elliott. “We’ve planned accordingly and are taking every precaution to keep our patrons safe.”
Two years ago the Kate upgraded its technical equipment so the films will be shown using a state-of-the-art 4k projector with surround sound. All screenings are at 7 pm with limited capacity so patrons are advised to purchase tickets in advance. The schedule includes:
Saturday, August 8 – “Raiders of the Lost Ark”
Saturday, August 15 – “Madagascar”
Saturday, August 22 – “Thor: Ragnarok”
Saturday, August 29 – “Aladdin”
The “Saturday Cinema series is generously supported in part by the Yakaitis Family.
