Multi-vehicle Crash Creates Traffic Mess in Middletown

MIDDLETOWN — Route 9 in Middletown this afternoon wasn't the place to be, as a motor vehicle accident in the southbound side of the state highway saw one lane closed and traffic backed up.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the accident happened at about 3:16 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Exit 16, which is at the road's intersection with routes 17 and 66.

The multi-vehicle crash prompted responders to close the left lane as they tended to the accident scene.

The DOT said it is not known when the crash will be cleared and traffic operations will resume back to normal.
