Nashville’s High South at the Kate August 1

OLD SAYBROOK, CT - The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center, “the Kate”, welcomes the Nashville-based group High South on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 7:30 PM.

With impressive three-part harmonies, a dedication to songwriting, and unwavering optimism, High South has established a devoted following. Blending the poetry of Greenwich Village in the 60's with the unmistakable harmony of Laurel Canyon in the 70's, the High South sound exudes the magic and timelessness of both these eras, while infusing a palpable new millennium sensibility. Their most recent release, “A Change in the Wind,” is a captivating project that draws comparisons to classic rock bands like the Eagles, Doobie Brothers, and Crosby, Stills and Nash.

The group – composed of Jamey Garner, Kevin Campos, and Phoenix Mendoza – sums it up this way, “As vocalists, we are always drawn to harmony. It’s such a naturally pleasing sound that we’re absolutely hooked on and it was never more prevalent than in the 1970s.”

About the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center
The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center is a non-profit performing arts organization located in an historic theatre/town hall on Main Street in Old Saybrook. Originally opened in 1911 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Center has been renovated with public funds from the Town of Old Saybrook and donations raised by the Trustees. It includes a 250-seat theatre and a small museum honoring Katharine Hepburn, Old Saybrook’s most celebrated resident. As befits an organization born of such a public/private partnership, programming is eclectic, offering something for all ages and income levels on the Connecticut shore and in the lower river valley. The Kate celebrates 10 years in September 2019.
