MIDDLETOWN, CT — A new bar featuring craft beer and specializing in gourmet pretzels and pretzel sandwiches is making its long-awaited opening in Middletown.

The Middletown Press reports The Hop Knot, located at 170 Main St. in the former home of the Shadow Room nightclub, celebrated its official opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday.

The Hop Knot has been launched by three recent UConn graduates — owners John Schauster and Michael Boney and general manager Anthony Calamusa, according to the Middletown Press.

Schauster told the Middletown Press that craft beer is their passion and they plan on “making our mark on the state, not just here in Middletown,” with catering and live music in the bar area.
