New Gourmet Doughnut Food Truck Opens In Middletown

The early demand for the fresh-made doughnuts has been overwhelming and the owner is already looking for ways to increase production.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — If you make them, they will come… and follow you around town looking for more. The Rolling Doughnut, a new food truck featuring fresh-made gourmet doughnuts, recently opened in Middletown and owner Scott Gordon is already trying to work on ways to increase production to meet the overwhelming demand.

The Rolling Doughnut food truck is currently open on Saturdays and Sundays and customers are encouraged to check its Facebook page for schedule and location information. All you have to do is take one look at some of the doughnuts on the Facebook page and you’ll see why they are selling out so quickly.

Gordon said the business has been open for the past two weekends and the response has been “overwhelming.” He said they sold out in two hours this past Saturday and sold out in one-hour flat on Sunday. Gordon was working on the food truck on Wednesday morning to increase production in preparation of this weekend. He is still trying out different locations, so it’s important to check the Facebook page to see where the truck will be.

Some of the gourmet doughnuts offered include Boston Cream, Fluffer Nutter, Nutella, Sugar Raised, S’Mores and more.

Gordon, who is the former owner of Red Spice and Blues BBQ in Durham, recently told the Middletown Press that his doughnuts are made from scratch — a yeast-raised dough. He also hopes to begin experimenting by serving grilled egg sandwiches and burgers by using the doughnut shell as a bun, according to the Press.
