CROMWELL, CT — The sign from one restaurant is gone to make way for another at the Crossroads Plaza in Cromwell.

Plans have been submitted for Fuego Mexican Grill to be the latest tenant at the plaza at 36 Shunpike Road, according to a zoning agenda. It is proposed to take the place of the former Ninety-Nine restaurant.

The Ninety-Nine was one of three on the popular regional chain to abruptly close in November 2022.

The local Planning and Zoning Commission has scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for Feb. 6.

According to an agenda, the commission is asked to approve a special permit for the restaurant with the sale of alcoholic beverages, and it lists BP & Mez, LLC as the applicant and JAS Shunpike — Cromwell LLC as the owner.
