New NARAL Report Targets
Connecticut Pregnancy Centers including ABC Women’s Center

Dear Donors and Friends of ABC Women’s Center,

Find out what's happening in Middletownfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

This morning, at the Legislative Office Building, NARAL pro-choice Connecticut held a press conference issuing a biased and anecdotal report titled “The Right To Lie”, attacking pregnancy care centers in our state. U.S. Senator Blumenthal and Middletown State Representative Matthew Lesser were both in active participation and support on the NARAL panel.

The NARAL Connecticut report asserts that our pro-life centers “seek to shame women about their personal choices.” It also asserts that “95% of all Crisis Pregnancy Centers (CPC) in Connecticut provide inaccurate and deceptive information that may put the health and safety of women in Connecticut at risk.”

Once again, this report reveals that abortion activists view the compassionate, empowering, and life-affirming services of pregnancy centers as an unacceptable obstacle to their ultimate goal: getting women into abortion clinics. It demonstrates that they see Connecticut women as “vulnerable” and do not trust women to receive and evaluate all the facts about abortion risks and their pregnancy options before making a decision.

Based on patterns observed in other states, it is very likely that NARAL-CT will follow up this report with 2016 legislative proposals, attempting to regulate pregnancy centers and their impact.

A few of the accusations against CPC’s (such as ABC) include:

  • #1 Lie - CPC’s receive state and government funding and should be cut off.

Truth- CPC’s are non profit 501 c (3) that are funded solely off of individual, church and business donations. We receive absolutely no government or state funding.

  • #2 Lie - CPC’s operate and advise clients medically with no certified or licensed medical personnel.

Truth - ABC Women’s Center is a medical center offering limited medical services such as free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds which are performed by a licensed sonographer, accompanied by a registered nurse and reviewed by our Medical Director. ABC operates under the extension of our licensed medical Doctor - Dr. O’Neill

  • #3 Lie - CPS’s lure abortion minded clients to our Centers, provide them with inaccurate abortion information and then shame them out of an abortion decision.

Truth - ABC Women’s Center honestly informs abortion minded women that we do not perform or refer for abortions. We present our clients with accurate abortion information and risks in order to allow her to make an informed decision regarding her pregnancy. We assure every client that no matter what she chooses, ABC will always be here for her. Additionally, we offer post-abortion healing classes for those who move forward with an abortion procedure. Our vast resources and care are extended to all clients no matter what their decision.
