Norman Bird Sanctuary 5K Set For Saturday

Roads will be closed to accommodate the event, police said.

From Middletown PD: In order to accommodate the Norman Bird Sanctuary 5K Fun Run/Walk, the Middletown Police Department will provide traffic control for the event. The race is scheduled for Saturday, June 16, 2018 and the affected roads will close at 07:30 AM. The race will impact the area for approximately one or two hours and any negative effect on traffic should be minimal.

There are two running events scheduled for the morning. The first is a Kid's Fun run which starts at 08:00 AM. The route is from the main entrance of the Norman Bird Sanctuary to the intersection of Third Beach Road/Hanging Rocks Road and then back to the main entrance. The 5K run will start at 0830 and the runners will travel south on Third Beach Road towards the intersection of Third Beach Road/Indian Avenue/Hanging Rock Road. The runners will turn right onto Hanging Rock Road, left onto Sachuest Point Road and turn around near the Sachuest Point Wildlife Refuge. The runners will then head west on Sachuest Point Road, right onto Third Beach Road and head north to finish at the entrance of the NBS. The Middletown Police Department requests motorists use care when driving in the area on race day.
