Obituary: Marc James Augustine, 38, Formerly of Middletown

Marc James Augustine was a Troop 44 Eagle Scout and a former Wesleyan University student.

Marc James Augustine died suddenly Oct. 26, 2014, at his home in Durham, N.C. He was born in Middletown on July 31, 1976, son of Gerald E. Augustine of Middletown and Lorraine M. (Bayliss) Augustine of Middletown.

Marc attended St. Mary School and was a 1994 graduate of Xavier High School. He became an Eagle Scout with Troop 41 of Middletown. Marc studied architecture at Wesleyan University as well as art and design at Dartmouth College. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Connecticut.

He was an award-winning artist in creative design concepts. He created unique environments for Urban Outfitters, an international retail company. He had won numerous best of show awards throughout the northeast for his unique sign making, structural displays, sculpture and graphics. Marc also carried on his grandfather’s business, No Leak Roofing Co. established in 1941 in Middletown.

Marc was as avid street rod enthusiast and helped his dad establish VETERANS GARAGE, a hobby Endeavor. He was also involved with the Connecticut Street Rod Association of Wallingford. He was recently featured in the GASSER episode of Cruisin’ New England on New England Sports Network with his father. He was the Southern New England Rep for GASSER MAGAZINE, an international publication.

Marc leaves behind his wife Cynthia (Bland) Augustine of Durham, N.C., brothers Mikael James Augustine and Gerald Darin Augustine of Middletown, two aunts and several cousins.

Calling Hours

Friends may call on Friday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown.

Funeral

The Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church, 79 South Main St., Middletown. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s School Fund, 79 South Main Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
