Obituary: Mary Lee (Brown) Jones, 94, of Middletown

Mary Lee (Brown) Jones, 94, of Middletown, wife of the late Spurgeon Jones, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in Lamar, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Estella (Kirkland) Brown.

Mary lived in Middletown most of her life and worked at Middlesex Hospital in the Laundry Department for 37 years. She was a member of Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church for 79 years where she was a Deaconess, senior choir member, missionary and always a willing worker.

Mary is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces and nephews including a special niece, Bishop Jean B. Taylor of Middletown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
