Obituary: Mary Theresa Davignon, 77, of Middletown

Over the years, she worked for Pratt & Whitney, and Middlesex Hospital, before retiring from CVH after 21 years in 2003.

Mary Theresa Davignon (Connelly) of Middletown died in her home, surrounded by her family on December 31st, after a long illness. She was born on October 2, 1940 in Middletown, daughter of the late Patrick and Mary Ann (McKiernan) Connelly. She was 77 years old. On February 10th of this year, she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage to her true love and best friend.

Mary is survived by her husband, Donald Davignon of Middletown; a daughter Terry Newcombe and her husband Ken of Middletown; a daughter Patty Holmes and her boyfriend Rich Spinelli of Columbia; a son Steven Davignon and his girlfriend Shannon Morey of Middletown; her grandchildren Reanna Holmes, Jordan Davignon, and Austin Davignon, and her great-grandson Derrick Perrone. Mary also leaves a brother Robbie Connelly and his wife Jeannie of Cromwell; a sister Noreen Mierzejewski and her husband Bill of Portland, a brother in law Carl Calhoun, and many many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Patrick Connelly and his wife Anita of Pasadena, CA; her brother John Connelly and his wife Josie of Rockfall; her brother Danny Connelly of Middletown, and her sister Helen Calhoun of Middletown.

Mary spent most of her life living in Middletown. Over the years, she worked for Pratt & Whitney, and Middlesex Hospital, before retiring from CVH after 21 years in 2003. Before her illness, she was an active member of St. John’s Church. She loved cooking and spending time with her family, and enjoyed going to lunch with her girlfriends.

Her Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday (Jan. 6th) at 10 a.m. at St. John Church, St. John Sq., Middletown. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
