Obituary: Ronnie Trome Jackson, 68, of Middletown

Ronnie, a member of the Portland High School Basketball Hall of Fame, lived most of his life in Middletown and loved to play pool.

Ronnie Trome Jackson, 68, of Middletown, beloved husband of Diane (Maloney) Jackson for 53 years, passed away on January 5, 2018 at Water’s Edge. Born in Panama City, FL, he was the son of the late Leroy and May Bell (Pressley) Jackson.

Ronnie lived most of his life in Middletown and was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Portland High School where he played basketball and became a member of their Basketball Hall of Fame. Ronnie loved to play pool and was known as a pool shark.

Along with his wife, Ronnie is survived by two sons, Jason Manns and Ronnie Jackson, both of Middletown; three daughters, Bonnie Jackson (Robert Hickman) of Augusta, GA, Deanne Jackson and Tanya Jackson, both of Middletown; four brothers, David C. Jackson of Waterbury, Albert L. Jackson of East Hampton, Walter L. Jackson of Middletown and Adam O. Jackson of Rocky Hill; three sisters, Elizabeth Davis of Middletown, Joyce A. Purvis of Greenville, NC and Ruby Holloman of Cromwell; and a cousin, Cora Coleman of Newington. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 12 at 11:00 am at Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church in Middletown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Family and friends may call on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ronnie’s memory may be made to Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church, 440 West Street, Middletown, CT 06457.
