Obituary: Rudolph F. Holmberg, 89, of Middletown
Rudy served the City of Middletown as the District Forest Fire Warden and as the Assistant Director of the Office of Emergency Management.

Rudolph F. Holmberg, 89, formerly of Bartholomew Road, Middletown, husband of the late Virginia (Smith) Holmberg, died Monday August 1, 2016 at Middlesex Hospital.
He was born in Middletown, the son of the late Rudolph and Rose (Lawless) Holmberg. Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Connecticut Valley Hospital as the supervisor of transportation. Rudy was a past member of the Connecticut Valley Hospital Fire Department, the South Farms Fire Department, and served the City of Middletown as the District Forest Fire Warden and as the Assistant Director of the Office of Emergency Management. He was an active parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Rudy is survived by his son, Lawrence Holmberg and his wife Emily of Chesterfield, MA; two grandchildren, Lars and his wife Natasha of Greensboro, NC and Kirsten of Easthampton, MA; a sister, Rosalie Kriwacki of Memphis, TN; and his nephews, Richard Kriwacki of Memphis, TN and Robert Quentin of Saco, ME. He was predeceased by his nephews Tom Kriwacki and Bill Quentin.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday (Aug. 6th) at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Elm St., Middletown. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Middletown. Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Church Community Center, 10 Elm St., Middletown, CT 06457.
