Obituary: Sandra Lynn Soderlund, 61, Of Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Sandra Lynn Soderlund, 61, of Middletown, wife of the late Richard Phoenix, passed away unexpectedly Feb. 14, 2022.

Sandra was born in New Haven on January 31, 1961, a daughter of Joyce M. (Thomas) Soderlund of Wallingford and the late Edward H. Soderlund.

Sandy was very creative and enjoyed painting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, drawing, and decorating, she could create and make just about anything. She was also a terrific cook. Sandy loved to garden and would take care of a special garden for her father after his passing.

Sandy worked at Sertec in Wallingford for many years and did the work of numerous people. She was a hard worker and took pride in what she accomplished there. Sandy had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Whitney Williams of Tennessee; her son, Stephen Williams of Berlin; her siblings Edward Soderlund and his wife, Donna, of Meriden, Karen Harvey and her husband, Brian, of Wallingford, Eric Soderlund, of Wallingford and Joy Testa and her husband, Andrew, of Durham; her grandchildren Stephen Maldonado, Jr., Mya Massaro, Gianna Massaro and Serenity Krug; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Mark P. Soderlund.

Sandra’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., on Wednesday, Feb. 23, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
