Obituary: Tawana Monique Bourne, 38, Of Middletown

Tawana was a fervent business owner and broker at Trinity Realty LLC in Middletown and founded the Healthy Home Healthy child organization.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — (From Biega Funeral Home): Tawana Monique Bourne, 38, of Middletown, peacefully transitioned on Sunday, January 17, 2021. She was the daughter of Charlene Greene of Middletown, CT, and Kent Holley of Cromwell, CT.

Tawana held many titles- she was a fervent business Owner and Broker at Trinity Realty LLC in Middletown, CT. She was recognized as the youngest lead African American to single-handedly establish a real estate brokerage firm in all of Central Connecticut. Tawana also founded Healthy Home Healthy child, a Middletown-based organization that worked with at-risk families.

Tawana was an enthusiastic author of many publications, including the popular "More Than a Conqueror" Testimony Memoir and "Kings Matter: My Voice Has Meaning" for young men struggling to express themselves. She was a dedicated community leader and hosted public events such as Unity Day- which was intended to be a time of celebration for every member of the community.

Tawana held an academic degree in Human Services and Psychology; she was people and service-oriented, as evidenced in her educational endeavors. Her love for people and her God-given zeal, desire, devotion, and passion for helping others was evident at the onset, and throughout every relationship she held.

Tawana had served as the co-chair for early education with the group “CT Parent Power.” She was also involved with “There is Hope", a free male mentoring program that targets at-risk youths.

Tawana’s legacy will live on as she influenced and touched so many lives showing others her devotion to God, her family, and the community in which she lived. Those she left behind were her precious sons, Daheim and Damarkus Bourne of Middletown, CT sister, Kareece Holley of Middletown, CT brothers, Joseph Parker of Lancaster, PA, Kiari Williams of Meriden, CT, and special brother/cousin Lamarkus Bourne of Meriden, CT. She was also survived by her special niece and best friend Taminesha Holley of Middletown, CT, and special Nephews Kairese Monroe and Bryson Milner, all of Middletown, CT. She leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Rosemarie Wilson, maternal great-grandmother Rosalie Rollie, maternal great aunt Lilian Reba Moses, and paternal aunt Susan Holley-Bell all from Middletown, CT.

Family and Friends are invited to celebrate her life at Shiloh Christian Church, 693 Saybrook Rd, Middletown, CT on Friday (Jan. 29) starting at 11 a.m. Covid-19 guidelines of wearing masks and social distancing will be required and strictly enforced. A minimum of 60 people are welcome to attend, others can attend virtually by logging on to https://www.shiloh-christian.com. Burial will be at the convenience of her family.
