Opportunities for Fun and Development at YMCA Camp Ingersoll

Why is YMCA Camp Ingersoll an industry leader in summer day camping? We care about our campers, our Camp Family, and our community.

I have experienced my fair share of maladies, but in every case, I was able to see the light at the end of
the tunnel. The day to day progress was apparent and measurable. This recovery has been significantly
more difficult. However, when I start to lose focus, I am reminded of the resources at my disposal: physical
therapists and friends who have struggled through similar situations. They are ready to coach me through
my rehab. They remind me my efforts are worth it.

What does this have to do with camp (other than keeping up with all of your children!)? I can’t help but think of the varied lives of our campers and how they approach similarly trying situations. How are they getting the support they need to see the silver lining? Who is encouraging them, supporting them, challenging them? Ingersoll can. Camp is the light at the end of the tunnel. It is the friend who introduces more friends, the coach who teaches new skills, the teacher to keep them focused and reaching goals, the doctor who encourages outside activity, and the mentor who empathizes and provides direction.

Just as I am confident of my recovery, I also know that your child will continue on their journey of growth and self-discovery this summer at camp. They will learn, face challenges, have overwhelming amounts of fun, and sometimes find it difficult to express themselves. Our counselors will be their personal trainers, providing your campers with the positivity, empathy and encouragement to leave Camp Ingersoll a more complete version of themselves.
