PD: Middletown Man Assaulted Pregnant Girlfriend, Broke Her Phones

He is also accused of preventing her from making a 911 call.

A Middletown man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his pregnant girlfriend and destroyed her items in an apartment.

The victim drove by a police cruiser on Aug. 29 and said that she had been in a physical domestic incident with her live-in boyfriend, police said. She is 15 weeks pregnant with his child. She had visible injuries.

The victim told police that the two had an argument the previous night and he started knocking things over and destroyed her computer and two cellphones. The value of damage was at least $1,500, police said. He also prevented her from making a 911 call.

He forcibly grabbed her and allegedly pushed a door so her arm got stuck in it, police said.

She went outside to scream for help but no one responded so she got in her car and was driving to the police station.

The victim also reported that her boyfriend took her wallet and made fraudulent purchases and withdrawals from her cards.

Sam Guerard, 38, was charged with third-degree assault on a pregnant person, interfering with a 911 call, disorderly conduct and first-degree criminal mischief. He was held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
