Police Investgating Shooting In Middletown
Police secured an area of Middletown after what they termed an "isolated" shooting incident Wednesday afternoon.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A heavy police presence was on Pearl, Broad and Hamlin streets in Middletown Wednesday afternoon as officers investigated a shooting incident.
Police said at 2:33 p.m., a caller reported seeing a blue sport utility vehicle heading west on Court Street after hearing multiple gunshots.
Officers arrived moments later, observed a man running south on Broad Street and chased him on foot through several backyards, according to an incident report. He was subsequently detained on Hamlin Street without incident, police said.

The scene was quickly secured and there were no reported injuries.
It is believed that the parties knew one another and that this was not a random act of violence with no other safety concerns to the public, police said.

Pearl Street was temporarily closed between College Street and Court Street. Hamlin Street was temporarily closed between College Street and Williams Street.
The incident remained an active investigation well into Wednesday afternoon, police said. The name of the man detained was thus not released.
