Potential Explosive Devices Found In Middletown River: PD

The devices were found by a resident and will be safely disposed.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A possible explosive mortar shell that resembles a World War II-era weapon was found in the Mettabassett River in Middletown, according to police.

A resident was magnet fishing and found the items, according to NBC Connecticut. The resident took the items home and notified police.

State police couldn't determine if the items were live; U.S. Air Force personnel will dispose of the items.
