Preview of 10th Annual Oscar Night Party at the Kate

OLD SAYBROOK, CT - The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (the Kate) transforms into a glittering, Hollywood-esque venue for its Oscar Night Party on Sunday, February 9 beginning at 7:00 pm at the center located at 300 Main Street, Old Saybrook. This annual red-carpet fundraising event honors the Kate’s 12-time Oscar Nominated, 4-time-winning namesake and makes for an entertaining evening. Proceeds support quality performing arts and cultural presentations at the Kate throughout the year.

“This year is particularly special as it is not only the 10th annual Oscar Night Party but also a continuation of the Kate’s ten year anniversary,” said Brett Elliott, executive director. “As much as we look forward to this event to celebrate Katharine Hepburn’s acting achievements, the celebration of our first decade as a performing arts center will be a part of the festivities.”

Delicious hearty hors d’oeuvres and desserts are provided by Fresh Salt of the Saybrook Point Inn, Marina & Spa and a cash bar is available throughout the evening as the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony airs live on the Kate’s big screen. Guests will walk the red carpet, pose for photos, and have the chance to hold a real Oscar, thanks to Devin Carney, state representative and grandson of the late award-winning actor Art Carney. Carney is emcee for the event and a member of the Kate’s board of trustees.

An auction and raffle add to the fun of the evening with plenty of chances to win gift certificates for theater and other outings, restaurant packages, tickets to upcoming shows at the Kate, and a 43“ Smart TV.
