RMR Boys' Hockey Team Blanks RMS United, 7-0
Rocky Hill/Middletown/RHAM's Kyle Whalen scores four goals in big win over Rockville/Manchester/Stafford United.

Kyle Whalen scored four goals and goaltender Nick Maulucci stopped 25 shots to lead the Rocky Hill/Middletown/RHAM boys’ ice hockey team to a 7-0 win over Rockville/Manchester/Stafford United Thursday night at the Bolton Ice Palace.
Brendan Quirion scored an unassisted goal at 3:09 of the first period to start off the scoring for RMR, followed by Matt Tavani (unassisted) at 9:04 and Whalen’s first (assisted by Quirion and Kyle Gentile) at 13:56.

Whalen notched the only goal of the second period off a feed from Quirion before Spencer Brown chased United goalie Matt Roy (25 saves) with a goal 8:42 into the third period.
Whalen’s goals at the 9:48 mark (unassisted) and at 13:06 (assisted by Kyle Doremus) finished the scoring.

Daelon Carnelli stopped six shots after replacing Roy for RMS United, which is now 1-2 and will next face Newtown at the Danbury Ice Arena Tuesday at 4 p.m. RMR improves to 2-1.
RMR will play its first home game Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Cromwell Upper Rink. Also, the team will host a pasta dinner fundraiser on Jan. 19 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rocky Hill High School.
