Man Killed In Crash In Middletown: Police

The crash closed a portion of South Main Street on Wednesday morning, according to police.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Middletown man was killed in a crash on South Main Street on Wednesday morning, according to police.

Police responded to the area between Randolph Road and Coleman Road around 11 a.m. on the report of a vehicle off the road, according to Lt. Brian Hubbs.

Hubbs said police and members of the South District Fire Department arrived at the scene and found the vehicle and the single occupant, identified as James Henderson.

Henderson, 60, was taken to Middlesex Hospital where he died a short time later, according to Hubbs.

Hubbs said the preliminary investigation indicates that the 1988 Ford Bronco was traveling north on South Main Street when it veered onto the right shoulder and crashed into a Frontier utility pole, snapping it in half. The vehicle then came to a stop a short distance away in the woods, according to Hubbs.

A portion of South Main Street was closed due to the accident, but has reopened.

The accident is being investigated by the Middletown Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
