‘She's Very Strong And Focused’: Middletown Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Debra, who nominated Kiyla of Middletown.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
She gets the best grades, is inquisitive, intuitive, loves to learn, plays basketball, the clarinet, goes to gymnastics, is in a drama club, is in 5th grade and already trying to figure out all she needs to do to get into a good college and get into medical school!! She's kind and supportive to others, goes above and beyond for her friends. And all this while currently being raised by her aunt and uncle due to the fact that I, her mom, am very sick. She's very strong and focused.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
That even through all of the adversities she may struggle through, she remains focused on her dreams of being a doctor when she grows up and is so very strong; she is even confident and believes in herself!!
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Kiyla!
