NRG Power Plant Tax Agreement TerminatedWe were surprised to learn that the City of Middletown terminated its generous (to NRG) tax agreement in June. We were told in May that the issue was being tabled until January 2022. Still, we are delighted to hear this news – a victory for climate action, tax payers, and local air quality. Middletown Restaurants: A number of local restaurants are taking the lead in solving Connecticut’s waste challenges by directing food waste to the Blue Earth anaerobic bio-digester in Southington. Instead of being shipped to out-of-state landfills, this food waste is transformed into clean energy and compost.
