Space Nights for Kids at Wesleyan University

Van Vleck Observatory at Wesleyan University is hosting astronomy events for kids! Fun, educational, and free!

Every first and third Friday of the month, Van Vleck Observatory will host fun presentations and activities for kids* all about SPACE! Come and explore black holes, our solar system, exploding stars, and more. The events are rain or shine, but when it’s clear, we will observe beautiful objects in space through our 16-inch telescope. So far, we’ve looked at Jupiter, the moon, and some nearby stars! Activities are hands-on, and look out, sometimes we’ll get messy. We’ve modeled space volcanoes, built our own solar systems, and even measured the lifetimes of different stars.

Our next event is Friday, April 17th at 8:00pm and will feature Dr. Wilson Cauley giving an interactive guide to stargazing. Come and check out constellations and star clusters (if it’s clear) or experience our portable planetarium (if it’s cloudy). Bring your enthusiasm for space, prepare to get messy, and spread the word!
