St. Vincent de Paul Middletown Modifies Food Distribution to Meet Needs Within Covid19 Safety Protocols
Middletown- St. Vincent de Paul Middletown (SVDM) announces their latest Soup Kitchen and Amazing Grace Food Pantry Distribution tactics and hours to make sure people in need are receiving basic foods while practicing social distancing to avoid the potential spread of the Coronovirus. Working closely with Middletown Mayor Benjamin Florsheim to follow protocol, Executive Director Maryellen Shuckerow announced on March 18th that the Soup Kitchen, 617 Main St. will now be open Monday through Saturdays with take-out food service only from 11-12:30 p.m. Sunday meals are suspended until further notice.
Food donations are needed and should be brought to the Soup Kitchen side door. These items include: sliced bread of any kind, tuna, lunch meat, cheese, wrapped butter pats. Also needed are individually wrapped healthy snacks, pretzels, granola bars, protein bars, packaged fruit cups, yogurts, juice boxes and bottled water.

In order to practice social distancing, SVDM asks that people DO NOT hand out food in front of the Soup Kitchen, 617 Main St, as it encourages crowds to gather. SVDM will also be delivering food to the Eddy Shelter and the YMCA so residents can stay where they are instead of having to come downtown.
SVDM's Amazing Grace Food Pantry, 16 Stack St., Middletown, will be opened on Wednesdays and Fridays, 11-4. There will be no inside shopping. A limited number of staff will bring packed food boxes outside for distribution. Amazing Grace Food Pantry is in need of the following food to help meet the escalated need of groceries: peanut butter, tuna, canned beans, dry beans, spaghetti sauce, canned vegetables and soups.
