Officials are warning residents of a scam several taxpayers have reported receiving through email.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Officials are warning of a scam in which several residents have reported receiving fraudulent tax invoices through email. Officials say the invoice often has very accurate data regarding their parcel information and the amount of tax owed.

The City of Middletown does not send tax bills through email. The Tax Collector's office mails out physical bills to tax payers.

If you are a victim of this fraud, please report it to the Middletown Police Department and file a report with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3). Filing a report on IC3 may result in the recovery of some lost funds.
