‘Significant’ Fuel Spill In Tractor-Trailer Accident On Route 9

MIDDLETOWN, CT — (UPDATE): Crews are on the scene of a tractor-trailer accident with a “significant” fuel spill on Route 9 South near Exit 10 in Middletown, according to fire officials. There were no injuries in the crash. The right and center lanes are closed.

“The truck was carrying Argon gas, which was not compromised, but we are taking precautionary steps to make sure the load remains stable,” officials wrote in a post on the South Fire District Firefighters IAFF Local 3918 Facebook page. “We expect this to be a prolonged operation with significant traffic delays. Please avoid the area if possible.”
