Two Middletown Students Earn Black Belt in Karate

Cromwell Martial Arts has announced the promotion of two students to the level of Black Belt in Kenpo Karate.  

Sophia Ventrelli earned her Black Belt, and Ashley Chuang her Junior Black Belt on May 3. Only an estimated one out of 100 white belt students persevere to obtain a Black Belt.  Sophia and Ashley have each been training in Kenpo Karate for about six years.

Sophia and Ashley passed rigorous tests in self-defense, forms, and sparring,  In addition, each researched an area of martial arts and submitted an original paper. Ashley is also a member of the Cromwell Martial Arts Demo Team.

Cromwell Martial Arts is located at 871 Newfield St. in Middletown. Master Teacher Frank Shekosky established the school in 1993. Master Shekosky and his team of instructors teach all ages in Kenpo Karate, Modern Arnis, and Yoga.
