United Way of CT Welcomes Middletown Executive to Board of Directors
Matthew Cammarota, Senior Vice President and Head of Retail Lending at Liberty Bank, joins United Way of Connecticut Board.

United Way of Connecticut (UWCT) is thrilled to welcome Matthew Cammarota to its board of directors.
Matthew Cammarota is a proven leader and strategic thinker in mortgage banking and consumer lending with demonstrated ability to improve customer satisfaction and increase market share. He is results-oriented, has strong communication skills and is adept at building productive relationships and cultivating highly effective teams.
Cammarota joined Liberty Bank in 2021 after more than 13 years at Webster Bank, where he held a number of key leadership positions, most recently as the Director of Consumer & Business Credit. He is a 25-year industry leader in community banking and brings to Liberty Bank a wealth of experience in consumer and mortgage lending, loan fulfillment, operations, customer experience and risk management. In September of 2023, he helped Liberty achieve #1 status in mortgage market share for Connecticut banks according to data from the Warren Group.

Cammarota served as the Chairperson of the Consumer Bankers’ Association (CBA) Home Equity Committee from 2020-2022, is an active participant in the CBA’s Mid-Tier Executive Forum, and the current co-chair to the MBA Community Bank Network. Additionally, he is the Chairperson of Columbus House, Inc., a leading non-profit homeless services and housing organization based in New Haven CT.

“After 15 years of working and partnering with local United Ways and United Way partner agencies, and witnessing their positive impact on communities, the opportunity to join the United Way of Connecticut Board is a very logical next step. There also seems to be a wonderful intersection between the missions of Liberty Bank and UWCT, especially in terms of building stronger communities where everyone can thrive. After getting to know and work with Lisa Tepper Bates, I have the utmost admiration and the highest respect for her as a visionary and change agent and look forward to working with her and the Board advancing the mission of UWCT,” shares Cammarota.
Cammarota holds a Master of Management and Organizational Leadership from Albertus Magnus College and lives in Wallingford with his wife and two children.
