Vinal Tech High School Students of the Month September 2018

It’s back to school time here at Vinal Technical High School, and we wanted to start this year’s Student of the Month honors off by acknowledging a few seniors. These students are role models for the whole school and have been working hard for all four years! While we are glad to see them so successful, we will also be sad to see such shining stars leave the halls of Vinal by the end of this year. All the seniors honored in this article have proven themselves to be focused students, excellent workers in shop, and people who vividly demonstrate the values of Vinal Tech.

Ryan Douglas - Deep River

Ryan is planning to go to college through the ROTC program after high school and focus on engineering. The top two schools he is applying to are UConn and Texas A&M.

Liz Gotta - Portland

Liz is going to be applying to UConn for business and agriculture, where she will continue to foster interests that were developed here at Vinal.

Kyle Leupold - Higganum

Kyle is early admission at Johnson and Wales. While there, he is going to major in digital marketing and social media advertising.

Abi Young - East Hampton

Abi is in the process of applying to college, and she plans to pursue a degree in engineering.

Ethan Gibson- Middletown

Ethan is currently applying to Middlesex Community College and CCSU for electrical engineering.

Amanda French - East Haddam

Amanda has plans to attend college, and she is in the process of several applications (though she hasn’t decided on a major yet). She spent her Vinal Work Based Learning time working for Saybrook Ford as a service writer!

Tim Smith - Durham

Tim is currently applying to Albertus Magnus for Criminal Justice. In addition to this he has plans to continue training in electrical as well.

We here at Vinal are very proud of these seniors, and we offer a big congratulations to all the other seniors who have similar plans for future employment and college! Next month the Student of the Month feature will be back with its usual selection of four students of the month: one from each grade level. These students need to show excellent effort in academics and shop and have the strong character that is in line with the values of Vinal Tech. The students who are selected are all honored in print and in the school announcements, and they get the chance to attend the CT Chamber of Commerce breakfast!
