With only a little over a month left of school, many students (and teachers!) are excited for summer to start. Even with all the excitement surrounding the end of the year, though, many students are still working hard to make sure their grades stay high and their behaviors remain respectful and constructive; these students are the ones who get honored with the recognition of being a Student of the Month! As usual there was a large pool of nominated students for this award, but the students listed below have consistently shown themselves to be dependable, positive, and hard-working throughout the course of the entire year.
9th Grade: Michael Lee
A very hard worker in academics, Mike is the rare student that has a high 90 (close to 100) average in English class for the year! He is a voracious reader and has a sharp mind that quickly comprehends and solves most any problem sent his way. Beyond this, Mike is a good friend to his peers, and someone who will go out of his way to help anyone in class that needs assistance. Mike is a flexible, creative thinking student, and one who we are sure will go on to do great things here at Vinal!

10th Grade: Tony Lemire
Tony has earned already earned three math credits this year by completing Algebra II, Geometry and Pre-Calculus. He will earn a fourth credit in Trigonometry in early May. Pre-Calc and Trig are both honors level courses, which makes this a truly remarkable achievement, one that is unique to only a very small handful of students. Tony's hard work and focus is inspirational, and is the exact type of student that we like to honor with the Student of the Month recognition!

11th Grade: Riley McConnell
Riley is a hard working student who has maintained a very impressive 100 average throughout the year in music appreciation. Her work on music-based projects is always focused, interesting, and well thought out. Beyond the academic success, Riley also has a great voice which will be on display at the Spring concert! Her work, both creatively and academically, sets a great example for her fellow students, and this makes her someone that all teachers enjoy to have in class.
12th Grade: Melissa Caldeira
Melissa is a student who always puts forth 100% effort. She is very responsible in academics, always conscientious of having her assignments finished on time and she self advocates for herself if she needs to. By standing up for herself academically, she is shows the excellent trait of independent thinking and self-reliance—both traits that teachers here at Vinal try hard to instill in every student! She is a pleasure to have in class every day, and her presence noticeably makes the classroom a more pleasant place to be!
