Volunteers Needed for Waste Reduction Project

Saturday and Sunday, November 12 & 13, from 9am - 6pm

We are very excited to be starting a new food waste co collection program in the Sanitation District. We are planning to distribute bags for the program to households in the District this Saturday and Sunday, November 12 & 13, from 9am - 6pm. If you have any time, or happen to know anyone who would be interested in helping with this distribution, please contact me at kim.orourke@middletownct.gov or 860-638-4855. It would be a great project for high school students needing community service hours! Information on the program can be found here: https://reducethetrashct.com/middletown/.

This pilot project is funded with a Sustainable Material Management Grant from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. At this point, it is only available to customers of the Sanitation District, but if successful, we hope to offer it citywide. Thank you!
