Wendy’s Robbed At Knifepoint In Middletown: Police

Police said the suspect grabbed the manager and threatened her with a knife, while a second suspect holding a gun waited by the door.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Police are investigating the armed robbery of Wendy’s late Monday night in Middletown.

Police responded to the restaurant at 950 Washington St. around 11:30 p.m. on March 27 on the report of an armed robbery.

Arriving officers found that one suspect forced his way into the restaurant after an employee unlocked the door for a drive-thru order, according to police.

Police said the suspect grabbed the manager and threatened her with a knife. He demanded that the manager open the restaurant safe and give him the cash, according to police.

A second suspect was present but remained at the entry door waiting, police said. A patron of the restaurant told police that the second suspect was holding a gun.

Both suspects left the restaurant property, after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe, and ran to a nearby vehicle, according to police.

The vehicle was described as a silver-colored sedan, which witnesses thought to be a Toyota, police said.

A Middletown officer responding to the scene saw a silver-colored sedan traveling east on Washington Street at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to stop the fleeing vehicle, but the operator failed to pull over, according to police.

Police said officers pursued the vehicle east on Route 66 to Interstate 91 South, but the pursuit was terminated in the area of I-91 South at Exit 14.

No employees or patrons were injured during the incident, according to police.
