Wesleyan Student Dies In Skiing Accident While Studying Abroad

The student, who was studying abroad this semester, died after a skiing accident, according to school officials.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — A Wesleyan University student died Sunday after a skiing accident while studying abroad, school officials announced Monday.

Officials notified the school community “with heavy hearts” that Jack Seivwright, a junior, died Feb. 12 following a skiing accident. Seivwright was studying abroad this semester, officials said.

Officials didn’t disclose where the skiing accident took place.

“Known on campus as a student-athlete who brought people together, he will be sorely missed by many,” officials wrote in a post on social media. “We offer our condolences to Jack’s family, friends, and loved ones.”

Seivwright was a member of Wesleyan’s soccer team during his freshman year.

“Jack was a ball of energy who loved being active and spending time with his friends,” Wesleyan men’s soccer coach Geoff Wheeler said. “It is so sad to see his life end so early.”
