Wesleyan Wrestler Leads Country In Pins
The Middletown native currently leads the nation with 20 pins for the Wesleyan University wrestling team.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Middletown native Devon Carrillo, of the Wesleyan University wrestling team, is currently ranked first in the country in pins and leading the Cardinals to an impressive season. Carrillo, a graduate student in his third season with the program, has qualified for the NCAA Tournament the past two years and currently boasts a 31-2 overall record. He has 20 pins, which not only leads Division III but the entire country in all divisions.
The top Division I wrestler has 15 pins while the top Division II wrestler has 14. Carrillo is also the third-most dominant wrestler in D-III and is currently ranked No. 6 in the 197-pound weight class.
He is also ranked No. 1 in his weight class in the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) rankings.
