What to Do if You Find a Snapping Turtle
Middletown Animal Control rescued a snapping turtle from a parking lot and reminded people what to do if they encounter one.

On May 29, Middletown Animal Control rescued this snapping turtle from a very busy parking lot. She was relocated to a safer place.
Animal Control wrote: “Please watch out for turtles as they are laying eggs. Please do not try to pick up snapping turtles, their heads can reach pretty far and you risk losing a finger! Usually tapping them gently on the behind with a stick will get them to move along. Please be respectful of all wildlife, especially at this time of the year when most species have babies to take care of.”
If anyone has questions, Animal Control said people are welcome to call them at 860-638-4030.
