You will quit smoking in one session, that is, the session that you choose to quit. Usually a person needs one or two sessions in preparation to quit. While those who look to hypnosis to help when quitting do want to quit on one level, they are often ambivalent about doing so. Smokers are convinced that smoking is a form of relaxation when in fact it has the opposite effect. Many smokers see a cigarette as a reward for completing a task. And even more fear gaining weight when they quit. These beliefs must be addressed and recognized as erroneous for the smoker to become a nonsmoker. It has taken many years for these fallacies to become beliefs and it may take one or two hypnosis sessions for a smoker to see them as they are…false reasons to smoke…and to change them into reasons for becoming a nonsmoker. Once this change in beliefs takes place it is very simple and logical for one to become a nonsmoker.
Most of my clients are afraid of going through the pangs of withdrawal. Amazingly, most are well prepared to become nonsmokers when they quit and experience very little or no withdrawal. Becoming a nonsmoker with hypnosis precludes any weight gain as food is not used as a substitute for cigarettes. Support sessions should take place at three and six weeks as these are the usual times when one may be tempted to revert to old habits.
Hypnosis makes becoming a nonsmoker so easy that former smokers wonder why it took them so long to take the steps to free themselves from this addiction.
