She says the lessons learned from this collective ‘trauma’ are sparking new efforts at the WHO to build more connected surveillance and response systems to address emerging pathogens. Dr. Van Kerkhove looks at the new 'variant of concern' out of India, and the need to accelerate global vaccinations to stop the continued spread of the pandemic.
