Xavier Names New Football Coach

Longtime head coach Sean Marinan recently announced his resignation following 15 seasons, and five state championships, with the Falcons.

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Xavier High School didn’t have to look far for its new football coach, naming assistant coach Andy Guyon to replace longtime coach Sean Marinan, who resigned on Nov. 28, according to GameTimeCT.com.

Guyon, 42, had been the defensive coordinator for the Falcons since 2009 and also served as special teams coordinator under Marinan.

Marinan, who won five state titles during his 15 years as Xavier head coach, also resigned from his social studies teaching position and told Jim Bransfield of GameTimeCT that his resignation was a “long time coming.”
