Young Girl Wanders Alone in Parking Lot, Mother Gets Arrested: Middletown Police

MIDDLETOWN, CT —A Middletown mother was arrested after her 20-month-old daughter was found wandering alone in the Petco parking lot while barefoot with a soggy diaper, according to NBC Connecticut.

NBC reports Idhssaine Khadija, 32, was charged last week with risk of injury to a child after a concerned citizen located the girl and called police.

Police searched a nearby apartment complex to locate the girl’s family and then found Khadija walking around the complex with a 4-year-old boy talking on the phone and she seemed to be in a “state of panic” and officers learned she was the girl’s mother and was searching for her, according to NBC.

When officers informed Khadija that her daughter was found nearby, she ran from the parking lot to her apartment, leaving the 4-year-old behind, and the officers followed her and discovered another child, a 2-month-old, was left unattended while she searched for her daughter, according to NBC.
