10,000 Oxycodone Pills Worth $200K Found in Milford: State Police
State Police say the accused was stopped on the highway in Milford. Because of the quantity of pills the case was turned over to the DEA.
MILFORD, CT — State Police say they found 10,000 Oxycodone pills in Milford worth an estimated $200,000.
At 3 p.m. on December 28 troopers from Troop G-Bridgeport were conducting patrol checks of the Interstate 95 southbound Service Area in Milford when they observed a male standing outside his pick-up truck in the parking lot.
The male, later identified as John Carlos Torres, 30, of Highside Avenue in West Haven, was on his cell phone and appeared to be agitated, State Police said.

Troopers also noted numerous equipment violations on the vehicle. Torres and a second male entered the pick-up and exited the service area. Troopers stopped the vehicle on I-95, State Police said.
While speaking with troopers Torres and the passenger appeared nervous, and through the course of the brief conversation troopers determined that narcotics may be contained in the vehicle, State Police said. Troopers requested a Narcotics Detection K9 to assist with the investigation.

A State Police K9 Team arrived on scene, and the K9 was able to determine that narcotics were located in the pick-up truck, State Police said. A search of the pick-up truck revealed a bag containing approximately 10,000 Oxycodone pills, according to a news release. The street value of the pills was estimated at approximtely $200,000, State Police said.
Torres was taken into custody and transported to Troop G. The Oxycodone pills were seized as evidence and were also transported to Troop G. The passenger was released on scene.
Based on the bulk quanity of the narcotics troopers contacted the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration). DEA agents responded to Troop G and after consulting with the US Attorney's Office the decision was made for the DEA to assume the investigation, State Police said. Torres was released to the custody of the DEA who will be filing criminal charges.
