MILFORD, CT — Two Bridgeport residents were killed when their vehicle was involved in a three-car crash that sent its vehicle airborne and ejected them from the vehicle, state police said Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred at 6:48 a.m. Thursday, state police said. Delroy Morris, 28, of Noble Avenue and Tashane Errol Boothe, 30, of Hickory Street, were both killed in the three-vehicle crash.

State police said a Milford man was driving a 2020 Hyundai Kona Limited in the center of three lanes on I-95 Northbound, approximately one-tenth mile north of Exit 36 in Milford, state police said.

A 2013 Volvo driven by a Pennsylvania resident was traveling in the left lane ahead of the Hyundai and a 2008 Lincoln driven by Morris, state police said.

State police said Morris' vehicle "attempted to merge into the center lane, striking the driver side fender" of the Hyundai, and Morris "proceeded to lose control and veer into the left lane causing Morris' vehicle to strike the rear end of the Volvo, state police said.

The impact between the Volvo and Morris' vehicle caused the Lincoln to go airborne, state police said. Morris' vehicle "struck the concrete bridge pillars associated with the Plains Road overpass, resulting in Morris and Boothe being thrown from the vehicle, state police said.

Morris and Boothe were pronounced dead at the scene, state police said. I-95 Northbound between the Exit 36 Off and Entrance Ramp was closed for four hours while the Connecticut State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad (C.A.R.S.) investigated.
