$4.5 Million Microgrid Project Moves Forward In Milford: Report
The project will ensure key city buildings remain open during powerful storms.

MILFORD, CT — City government will be able to keep functioning through almost any storm soon enough. The city is embarking on a $4.5 million microgrid project that will keep critical buildings up and running during powerful storms, the Milford Mirror reports.
Taxpayers will fund $1.6 million for the project or a $125,000 a year for 15 years. But officials told the Mirror that they believe taxpayers will end up saving on energy costs and that the microgrid project should pay for itself.
State funds will pay for the remainder of the project which includes generators and energy storage. Buildings that would remain operational through tough storms include: Parsons, Milford Senior Center, City Hall, senior housing buildings near City Hall and Harborside Middle School, the Mirror reports.
