$60 Million Question: Will Milford Get A New Police Station?
Mayor Ben Blake announced a big change in thinking concerning a potential new police station in Milford.
MILFORD, CT — Despite the fact that Milford spent $4.5 million in 2017 to purchase land at 130-150 Boston Post Road for a new police headquarters it doesn't mean the project will actually occur, according to reporting by the Milford Mirror.
Mayor Ben Blake told Milford Mirror Editor Jill Dion that a new police station could cost taxpayers up to $60 million and the city cannot afford to take on that kind of debt.
Blake has ordered repairs be made to the existing police station and that the city should consider expanding the current facility. Police officials are not pleased about this latest news and dispute the $60 million price tag. Blake said the city could sell the land it purchased back in 2017 for a profit.
